In 1979, Greg was on the FDR and noticed a Police Launch plying the waters of the East River. He stopped to photograph it and the pilot veered over to him to investigate. Greg struck up a conversation with officer Tom Power (pictured above) who posed for a photo.

There is another photo from that day. It pictures this launch underway in the middle of the river. That picture was framed and hung on the wall wherever Greg lived since 1979. In 1998 Launch 5 was raised from the bottom of the Passaic River and, on a hunch, Greg looked for that photo hanging in his shop. To his amazement, he discovered that the photo he had been displaying all those years was Launch 5.

Tom Power was an expert diver for the NYPD (even before he was assigned to Harbor he was pulled off the street for dive jobs) as well as a Navy Seal. Below is another classic photo of Tom Power illustrating the versatility of the members of Harbor
