Launch 5 Electrical Systems
Design

Simplicity is the key in the wiring system on Launch 5. The wheelhouse is beautifully appointed and classic as it is gently lit from above including red lighting for night time operations. We employed two brass gooseneck chart lights at the rear of the house, port & starboard. The installation runs at least 250' of 12/2 and 500' of 14/2 rubber boat wire. Of course, we used hand wrapped ring termination throughout, and most of our electrical hardware was purchased from a commercial supplier in Brooklyn. For this restoration we secured the heaviest rubber marine wire any of us have ever seen! Our crew was very careful and diligent, and the greatest care has been taken to bush cables in tight spots and through-bulkhead runs. This is vital in any electrical installation but particularly important for a search and rescue craft. Breakdowns, shorts, fires and sparks are not permitted (!). The distribution panels are from the Paneltronics Co. in Florida.
